I’ve been out and about with the D800 for some more test pictures to gauge the performance and see how it handles various situations. The first of my tests can be found here
Fist I went down to the studio with my model Chloe for a few pictures under the studio light. No surprises on the shoot, fairly standard operation. I ran the RAW files through Lightroom 4 and I was very impressed with the quality. The areas where the light falls off into the shadow areas is incredible, far less noisy than my D3, very smooth and I would say it has a medium format look about it. I’ve never shot with MF but have looked at many large pictures with more than a tinge of envy. I’d say the 800 is very very close and at around a fifth of the price an absolute bargain. Read more

One of my more colourful (and nicest smelling) shoots last week! Ruby Red run by Joanna is a new florist and as you can see produce work that is not only colourful but also tasty (yes they are sweets in the bottom of the glass vase). Read more

Here are a few pictures from the latest Creative Photography course.
We started by discussing camera operation, with so many buttons modern camera’s can look confusing but you only really need to use a couple once it is set up properly. After looking at all the various aspects of photography including light and composition we went out for lunch. St Sampsons was fog bound but Vazon was like Jamaica (ish). Read more
